Week 1:

"The journey of a thousand miles begins with one step."
- Lao Tzu

When there is an awakening within, that there is so much more to life than merely "living" it in a materialistic manner, our spiritual journey begins...

This is when we realise the gap between the "I am" and the "I want to be" in a spiritual sense. To begin with, it would be a great idea to come up with a list of the things about yourself that you would like to change, and with a second list of the traits that you would like to add to your personality. And move forward from here.

Well, this is not the goal for the week.

All quests for spirituality begin with slowing down the working of the mind. For, without a calm and steady mind, nothing can be achieved. And Meditation holds the key to this end. So we shall start Week one with a daily slot of atleast 10 minutes of meditation.

There are many ways to meditate; and there are many websites that tell you how to meditate. On a basic level, it is just as simple as this:
Sit comfortably with your back straight. Close your eyes and pay attention to all the noises around you (there should be none, preferably). Now let go and focus on just your breathing. Breathe as you normally would; don't strain yourself. Just watch your breath go in and out, in and out. Thats it. Your mind may wander but thats just what the mind does! - wander! The moment you notice that your mind has gone for a walk or a jog, bring it back to breathing. This might be quite frustrating initially. But dont you worry: we've all been there.

It takes a while to train the mind to co operate with us for this exercise. only persistance will do it!
